I know that it's mid-November. And Christmas is still 38 days away.
But let's be honest, Christmas music is just the best. And as soon as it's moderately acceptable to listen to Bing Crosby's soothing holiday melodies, I'm all about it. But you can't go straight from the day after Halloween into "Jingle Bells." That's just too aggressive; people will look at you like you're crazy if they hear you blasting "12 Days of Christmas before December 1.
Fortunately, I've come up with is a solution: the Christmas Warm-Up Playlist. This playlist is a collection of holiday songs that may or may not mention Christmas, but they have that festive feel to get you in the seasonal spirit. Some of my favorites are some Kelly Clarkson originals ("Wrapped in Red" and "Winter Dreams"), "Pennies from Heaven" from the "Elf" soundtrack, and Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" (because why not?) A few ideal settings for this playlist include:
-Lounging around the house on a Saturday morning
-Background music while you work on your novel (shout-out to #NaNoWriMo peeps!)
-In the comfort of your own headphones in the office
-During Thanksgiving Day and dinner preparations (because everyone knows after Thanksgiving Dinner, full-fledged Christmas music is green-lighted)
But the possibilities are endless! So, light a pumpkin candle (also still acceptable), cozy up with a furry blanket, and queue up the Christmas Warm-Up Playlist. I hope you love it as much as I do!
Did I miss anything? Which songs would you add to the Christmas Warm-Up Playlist?
