If you read my post from yesterday, you have some idea of how Mike and I were feeling when we woke up on Sunday morning in beautiful hot-as-hell Palm Springs.
Rough, is the word that comes to mind.
We had scheduled a couples massage for 10:15 on Sunday morning, which they were gracious enough to let us reschedule (no-charge) after we woke up and realized our current state. A few hours later, we dragged ourselves out of bed, checked out of the Triada Hotel, bought enormous iced coffees, and headed to the Ace Hotel.
To be completely honest, this was one of the worst hangovers I had had in a while, so the thought of doing anything, even getting a massage, seemed unappealing. Those feelings were not assuaged when we pulled into the parking lot of the Ace Hotel. "...Are we sure we want to do this?" was Mike's direct quote, as we looked around the run-down parking lot, and took in the dated wooden exterior of this supposedly "awesome" hotel. "C'mon, it'll be fine," I said (wishfully), as we very slowly made our way into the hotel.
Welp, once we were inside the lobby, it all became clear: the Ace Hotel is retro-chic. A hipster heaven. And we absolutely loved it. Our massages (at their "Feel Good Spa") were fantastic. Mike even described his as "sassy," whatever that means. After our spa treatment, we were given included day passes to the pool, and we spent the next couple hours relaxing, wading and recovering from the previous night's activities (I ordered poolside chicken tenders off the kid's menu, which single-handledly brought me back to 90%).
Skies out, thighs out, amiright?
Overall, our day at the Ace Hotel was awesome. The vibe of this place is hip (really the best word I can think of to describe it). Other words that come to mind to help describe it are: Mad Men, the Beatles, hipsters (woops, I already said that one) and groovy (just kidding... Kind of). We'll definitely be heading back here on our next trip to Palm Springs (and hopefully won't be as hungover).
We headed home later that afternoon, and were greeted by the most amazing sunset when we arrived back to San Diego, which was the perfect end to our weekend getaway, and three wonderful days in Palm Springs.
And thus ends the longest "weekend recap" ever. But I hope it was helpful to anyone who may be planning a trip to Palm Springs in the near future! And if you have any questions, I'm more than happy to answer, just
hit me up!
