Things to Look Forward To: June Edition

The beginning of the month is a good time to take stock of what's going on in your life. For me, monthly goals, things I'm thankful for and things I'm looking forward to are usually my top reflection points. So what's going on in June that I'm excited about? Here's the short list:

1. The no brainer... Mike comes back from Italy!

After a year and a half distance, Mike will finally be heading back to the U.S.... for good! Starting in July, he'll be stationed in San Diego for the next couple years, and I couldn't be happier. In case you missed it, you can learn more about Mike here.

2. My family finally gets to meet Mike

After almost two years, the day is almost here: my family will finally get to meet Mike! Are they excited? I think so. The only times they've talked with him are the random FaceTime moments when they popped in to say hi while I was visiting home, but so far so good. My dad is retired Navy, so I'm hopeful that him and Mike will hit it off, and I'm pretty sure my mom's going to love him (/she would love any guy that treated me as good as he does). Where things get interesting though, are these weirdos:

Hunter, Nick and Noah circa 2000

And last Christmas, the last time the four of us were together.

As the oldest of four and the "big sister," I'm a bit nervous (apprehensive? Really I'm just excited to sit back and watch...) as to how this will go. My brothers have only ever met a couple other people that I dated in high school, and Mike doesn't really have experience interacting with younger siblings. Up until Mike, those three little dudes were the main men in my life. Maybe it will a bit awkward at first, but hey, it wouldn't be a token "boyfriend-meets-the-family" dinner scene without a bit of awkwardness (at least before all the booze kicks in...) And to be honest, I'm not worried. I know everything's going to be great, and I can't wait for all the people I love most to finally meet.

3. Palm Springs trip

One of the first weekend vacays Mike and I will be taking (clearly we're not wasting any time), is a trip to Palm Springs the last weekend in June. I've lived in San Diego for almost four years now and STILL haven't made a trip to Palm Springs, which is known for being ...... And you can bet I'll be doing lots of research ahead of time. Luckily Team Wiking and Locale Magazine have made that pretty easy.

4. A lot of geeky work events...

One thing I love about the industry I work in is that you have to constantly be learning. Digital marketing is such a rapidly changing industry, so you can't take a back seat in your education if you want to be successful. This week alone, I'm heading to two work events: a HubSpot user group meeting on content marketing today, and a Facebook marketing seminar on Thursday. So #exciting!

So, that's the short list! What are you looking forward to in June? It's going to be a great month!
