Last week, I went on an evening run (love youuu, Daylight Savings Time) around my neighborhood, and took a different route than my usual to-the-beach-and-back. I turned north (which is all uphill, by the way), running up towards La Jolla, and found myself taking a quick pit-stop at this scenic little park tucked away off Soledad Road.
Located directly across from Soledad Country Club, Kate Sessions Memorial Park is a quiet little pocket of tree-lined green grass and wide open space. It's great for dogs (even though I think "technically" they're supposed to be kept on-leash) and for its beautiful view of San Diego, including Pacific Beach, Point Loma, Downtown, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, and more. Head up here on a clear day (or a cloudy one) and take in the beautiful scenery. There's also a paved path encircling the park, perfect for fitting in a few laps while you watch dogs frolic and fetch with their owners. Pro-tip: check out the paved hill at the park's south entrance if you feel like ramping up your workout with some hill intervals.
The next time you're in the Pacific Beach/La Jolla area, be sure to stop by Kate Sessions Park. It's a great place to watch sunsets and the fireworks from Sea World in the summer!
