SD Must See: Torrey Pines State Reserve

What better way to kick off my 'San Diego Must-See' series than with my go-to hiking spot when visitors are in town? Introducing...

Torrey Pines State Reserve is the epitome of San Diego's juxtaposing-ly beautiful scenery: you can be looking out to the ocean, surrounded by nothing by desert vegetation and cacti. Overall, the experience is fantastic, excluding parking, which can be a bit of a nightmare (either pay $10 cash to park in the reserve lot, or take your chances waiting for parking along the beach-- not impossible, just plan to spend some time waiting for a spot to open up).

While I refer to Torrey Pines as a "hiking spot," the plethora of trails and one-off paths make the trek as easy or as hard as you want it to be. Looking for a leisurely stroll? Hike up to the first look out, snap a few pics, and walk back down the hill. Looking for a bit of a challenge? Join the hardcore runners for some hill sprints at the beginning or end of your hike. But whatever you choose, be sure to take in the beautiful views! I'll just leave these pictures here...
